Adaptive Maximum Dehumidifier Mode (AMDM)

Adaptive Maximum Dehumidifier Mode (AMDM)

Introduction

Excess humidity is the main enemy of many applications, such as grocery stores, storage facilities, and restaurants. Used on their own, existing A/C systems within these facilities cannot dehumidify adequately. They cannot deliver the dehumidification required at lower dewpoints.

Our ByPass Dehumidifier (IABD) in AMD Mode (AMDM) is unique from our other products in that it enables zone dehumidification.

The IABD (ADM Mode) enables you to build your own low-cost dehumidifier using off-the-shelf A/C equipment.

In this mode, the IABD, combined with the A/C equipment, is designed to be installed in parallel in any main duct.

Did you ever thought that the best place to install a dehumidifier is after the cooled air leaving the A/c equipment for the simple reason that , this air stand better odds to be saturated meaning that the dehumidifier do not have to provide the cooling to bring it to a saturated state

The control’s intent is to decouple dehumidification from cooling that if the A/C is not operating it then is capable of providing the most efficient dehumidifier imaginable.

If the cooling is on it then provides the means to achieve lower dewpoint as compared to the central A/C.

For Your Information

A/C vs Dehumidifier

Dehumidifiers are very expensive. They also have very high operating cost compared to A/Cs.

This ByPass Dehumidifier significantly reduces costs by using inexpensive off-the-shelf A/Cs to dehumidify instead of costly custom-made equipment.

Dehumidification

Dehumidification and cooling should be de-coupled and controlled independently.

Best Location for a Dehumidifier

THE BEST PLACE TO HAVE ANY DEHUMIDIFIER IS AFTER THE CENTRAL A/C COOLING COIL BECAUSE THE AIR IS ALREADY SATURATED.

THIS IS WHERE YOU PLACE THE IABD WHEN IN AMD MODE

Fact

You can build your own powerful dehumidifier using the IABD and your preferred brand of A/C resulting in a high-performance dehumidifier at a fraction of the cost.

The IABD in ADM Mode converts the A/C into a highly efficient dehumidifier.

AMDM Benefits

DRAWING 1

The IABD in AMD Mode is an INEXPENSIVE dehumidification solution because it uses less costly A/C equipment, not expensive custom-made dehumidifiers.

In this mode, the ByPass Dehumidifier is connected to the main duct of the central system. When the central system is cooling, it saturates the air going into the IABD, dramatically optimizing dehumidification. The dehumidified air then returns to the main duct.

This solution dissipates the heat outside, not inside.

It can be installed as a stand-alone unit or integrated with a central system.

You can integrate the ByPass Dehumidifier with most brands of split A/C and indoor equipment having a single-stage outdoor condenser.

In AMDM, the IABD is installed in parallel to any main or branch duct in the delivery air of any rooftop, central , or makeup air system.

In this cascade arrangement, you must select an indoor blower unit with a two-speed fan which delivers 400 cfm per ton when running on low speed and 500 cfm per ton when running on high speed.

The controller will switch the indoor air blower to high speed to prevent the coil from freezing.

How Does the AMD Mode Work?

The IABD consists of a modulating bypass fan, a motorized damper, a sensor, a transformer, and the InnoTek Air ByPass Dehumidifier Controller (IABDC).

The system is attached directly to a single-stage split-type cooling system parallel to the cooling coil.

Our ByPass Dehumidifier is ducted to DIVERT and BYPASS the air around the indoor blower unit cooling coil. This method causes the coil’s operating temperature to drop SIGNIFICANTLY, greatly increasing dehumidification. The bypass air rejoins the airflow to provide dry and cool air instead of cold and wet air.

The InnoTek Air ByPass Dehumidifier Controller (IABDC)

  • Brain

It is the "brain" of the IABD. It enables the ByPass Dehumidifer to receive the information it needs to ensure that the air is properly dehumidified.

  • Controller

It controls the IABD, including the A/C equipment. You will require an indoor thermostat if any heating is needed.

  • Thermostat

It can use an app. from a smart thermostat such as ECOBEE.

  • Dehumidification Settings

It controls the desired dehumidification setting, monitors the indoor dewpoint and suction temperature, and modulates the bypass fan using a set algorithm. This results in maximum dehumidification.

  • Latent Cooling

The focus of the controller is to maximize latent cooling.

  • Blower Speed

IT MONITORS THE IABD'S AIR INTAKE CONDITION AND SWITCHES THE BLOWER SPEED FROM 400 CFM TO 500 CFM TO AVOID COIL FREEZING.

AMDM Specifications

Overview

When using the ADM Mode, there are two ways to install the IABD attached to an indoor blower and coil. Drawing 1 shows an installation where the cooling coil connects to the supply duct of the indoor blower. Drawing 3 shows the scenario of the cooling coil in the return duct.

  • The Inline fan comes with a 6-foot plug-in cable.
  • The IABD Controller can be mounted on a wall and connected by control wiring to the inline fan within 75 feet.
  • The IABD comes with an indoor sensor that connects to the controller and cannot exceed 75 feet of wiring from the controller.
